Link to the story on CNN 27 people, most of them children, died when a school bus fell into a gorge in a mountainous region of India.
Most of the passengers were below the age of 10, police said. The bus driver and two teachers were also killed in the accident on Monday evening.
The incident occurred in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh.
I am an IT professional living in Toronto. I was born and grew up in India. I visited this area in Himachal many times and always loved the beauty of this place. Though endowed with natural beauty, it is one of the poorest area in the country frequently affected by natural disasters.
I have started this fundraiser to help the community affected by this horrible accident.
A trust will be setup in India and all the proceeds of this campaign will be transferred to this trust. This trust will build a modern English medium school in the community so that kids don’t have to travel far. Trust will also run and maintain this school.
